Tired Teacher to somewhat-less tired theater goer. I try to avoid evenings out after work. It’s just a lot with kids and school and exhaustion. BUT a night out sans kiddos is good for the soul, so out we go tonight. Matt and I are going to see Sister Act as part of Broadway Indy’s Twittic program. We’re super excited. I do have some tips for looking less like a mom and more like…..human being? 1) Take off all your make-up and start over. 2) If your skin is like mine, remoisturize and reapply zit cream. 3) Eyeliner is your friend. 4) A cool hat covers a multitude of sins. 5) Fake it ‘till you make it.

My Oscar Predictions:

Actor: Joaquinn Phoenix (I hated The Master but he was darn good in it)

Actress: Jennifer Lawrence (I don’t think this is her year but I love her)

Supporting Actor: Christopher Waltz (He was fantastic, but I liked TLJ, too)

Supporting Actress: Anne Hathaway (Why did they even nominate anyone else??)

Animated Film: Wreck it Ralph (fun for the whole family)

Director: Ben Affleck (I’m counting on a write-in vote)

Make-Up: Les Mis (My favorite category)

Short Film: Head Over Heels

Oscars 2013

To those of you who didn’t see all of the movies nominated for Best Picture this, I’ve got your back. Here’s my one sentence synopsis of each of this year’s nominees. Enjoy!

Amour—Growing old is not for sissies.
Argo—Hostage situations can have happy endings.
Beasts of the Southern Wild—Hushpuppy is not just a treat from Long John Silvers.
Django Unchained—I hope you like blood.
Les Miserables—It sucks to be poor and French.
Life of Pi—Well, there has to be a weird one every year.
Lincoln—The boat sinks
Silver Linings Playbook—Everyone deserves a second chance.
Zero Dark Thirty—Bye bye, Bin Ladin.

Confession: I only saw 5 of these this year. I know, I know, I’m disappointed about it, too. However, I’m confident that I saw the best picture winner.

I just can’t decide which one of the five I saw it will be—I’ve got it narrowed down to two. I don’t want to give away which two, but one involves Ben Affleck wearing a beard and the other involves a lot of singing.

Color! A dreary, icy day is perked up so much by a colorful outfit! Coat: Gift from my momma (great story, she got it for free!) Scarf: Irvington Halloween Festival Shirts: Thrifted Skirt: Ollllld & leggings and boots, of course. One of my students asked me today how I get dressed in the morning. I laughed. I love the innocence and curiosity of children!! I told her that I usually choose one piece and then build the outfit around it. Today’s item was the scarf!

Goals for today

In an act of complete mercy I have today off. I needed it. Everything’s just a lot right now. We’ll talk about all that later.

My morning—yes—morning project is to finish my office/spare room. The goal is to spend no more than 3 hours on it. I’ll post pictures later. It’s bad.

I’d also like to make banana bread, tidy the kitchen and clean up the kids’ rooms.

Ga. That doesn’t sound like much fun.
