Haaaave ya met Matt?

Me: It’s cool because we were going through the same things when the movies (America Pie Triology) came out.
Chris: Well, I hope not everything.
Me: You don’t remember my lesbian phase?
Matt: You had a sexy phase?!

My name is Carrie and I live under a rock

  • (Conversation takes place over about 10 minutes while both of us are distracted with our lap tops and Narnia plays on the TV in the background)
  • Me: Why are you obsessed with the Crystal Skull?? You watch it every time it's on TV. (tweets)
  • Matt: No I don't, I just watched it the other day. And now. And if you don't like that, now I'm going to watch this.
  • (turns on Narnia to punish me about tweeting the Crystal Skull thing)
  • -later-
  • Matt: Man, this just looks so good. I saw it on regular TV, but it just looks so good in HD.
  • Me: (goes on living my life)
  • Matt: They just took advantage of every opportunity to make it look really good.
  • Me: Well, they probably had a lot of money left over for cameras because they got a discount when they used all those leftover Orcs from Lord of the Rings.
  • Matt: There are no Orcs in this.
  • Me: Sure.
  • -later-
  • Me: I don't remember any of this.
  • Matt: This is the second one.
  • Me: I thought the second one just came out.
  • Matt: No, that was the third one. This is the second one.
  • Me: Oh.
  • Matt: My name is Carrie and I live under a rock.

Matt’s Yearly Clothing Routine

Jan-Aug: Light weight, lightly colored button-up shirts with coordinating undershirts.
Sept-Oct: Sweaters, regardless of temperature.
Nov-Dec: Back to the light weight, lightly colored, springy button-ups.

…and while we’re at it, he has only two temperatures in the car:
AC as cold as it can get.
Defrost.

Sometimes I think, “How can I be legally bound to such a man?” But mostly I just love him.

Time to go to the basement

(After dinner, all the adults are talking around the table)
Jack: Are we going to the basement?
Matt: Not yet, later.
Jack: Okay.
(Pause) (Jack looks at hand, confused)
Jack: What’s this? What’s this say? Oh! It says it’s time to go to the basement.

Help me, Obi Wan. You’re my only hope.

Love

Me:Jack, I’m so glad you’re my little boy.

Jack:(pause) Okay.

My sweet babies holding hands in the car. They’ve done this since they were weensie.

2nd Circular Converstation with my 3 year old

  • Jack: What happened, Mama?
  • Me: Those two cars hit each other.
  • Jack: What?
  • Me: The cars were driving and they hit each other.
  • Jack: What happened?
  • Me: The van was driving and the truck hit it?
  • Jack: What?
  • Me: The truck hit the van.
  • Jack: Try a different word, Mama.

Looks a little different than when I used to leave my shoes by the door at my parent’s house 10 years ago.
